In assessing the quality of learning provided within a particular service, department or directorate, the standards against which learning environments are audited are seen below. There may be multiple learning environments within a service, department or directorate. Standards 3 and 4 are completed following consultation with a group of students that are representative of the learners that access the learning environment.

Standard 1: The practice experience takes place within a culture and setting that enhances learning.
Standard 2: Staff are adequately supported to maintain their capability to support learning.
Standard 3: Students perceive that their practice experience provides them with adequate learning opportunities to meet their learning needs.
Standard 4: The practice learning environment provides orientation and welfare information which is understood
and valued by students.
Standard 5: The practice learning environment has adequate facilities and resources to support learning.
Standard 6: There are systems in place to consider the experiences of people who access services.

Against each of these standards a judgment is made and a score given dependent on whether the standard is fully met, partially met or not met at all. There is also a comment section against each of the judgements. The scoring allows learning environments to identify their strengths and identify where improvements can be made across the standards.
